Kilig Heaven

It's quite hard to translate the Filipino word kilig to English. Even Google Translate gives an inaccurate translation "hoity-toity". But I think it's more appropriate to say that kilig means the lovey-dovey warm, fuzzy feeling. Or something like that. There are just some Filipino words that are impossible to translate.

I've been watching "Please Be Careful with My Heart" the last few weeks since I' stuck at home recuperating. I must admit I wasn't really interested to watch the show but I had a change of heart when I got the chance to watch. ABS-CBN really took a risk when they paired up Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap. The gamble paid off though because it's one of the most watched shows locally. I can say my Mom's friends cannot be bothered to meet up before lunch because of the show.

Today's episode was one of those times that I felt really kilig. I kept making kilig sounds while watching and the bagets was looking at me strangely. I told him, "I'm in kilig heaven!" He just shook his head and went back to reading. After watching the show I thought I'd reminisce about the time I met Sweetie and the many kilig moments we've had. One thing I really appreciate is the fact that Sweetie continues to write me notes every single day. In paper when I'm at home and virtually through email when we're apart. He's kept his promise to do this every single day because all the love letters he wrote for me before we married perished during Typhoon Ondoy.

Kilig!

Furniture: Bed for Your Child

In my past life my Mom and I used to export furniture and houseware and at times I had to design items we sold based on what clients needed. When we moved to a smaller home we had to give up most of our furniture since it wouldn't fit in. We only brought our dining table. We hunted for beds that doubled as storage but the few we saw just didn't meet our expectations.

We ended up having our beds custom made. My son wanted his bed to double as a desk too. I was quite apprehensive about it since he's a really big kid. Well I remembered I wanted a similar bed when I was a kid so I indulged, besides he chose the smallest room in the house and we had to maximize space. The store had a designer so I gave him instructions on what we wanted.

It took almost 2 months to get the bed because the store missed their promised delivery dates several times and we were out of the country. They finally delivered it in early February and my son was really happy about how the bed turned out. We'll have to install a wall fan so he could get more air when he sleeps.

Wood: Mahogany
Price: PhP28,000
Store: I'm still quite annoyed about their late delivery so I'm not mentioning them

Through Good Times and Bad Times

We make huge promises to our spouse when we get married.

"In good times and bad times."

"For richer, for poorer."

"In sickness and in health."

Photo taken before we left for my heart surgery.

One of my apprehensions before Sweetie and I married was the fact that I have a heart condition. I asked him several times if he was sure about marrying me because aside from my condition I wasn't sure if my cardio would give a green light to have babies. He repeatedly reassured me that he loved me and would stand by me no matter what.

Before we married I fell very ill with pneumonia and heart failure. He took care of me while I was at the hospital. I was barely functioning for a few months until I received the grace of healing at Kamay ni Hesus in Lucban, Quezon. Sweetie actually proposed to marry me while I was very sick. I had lost a lot of weight and could barely go out on a date without having an asthma attack. I believe I was at my ugliest when Sweetie proposed to me.

Just three months before we married Typhoon Ondoy victimized both of us. I lost everything I had and Jay lost his car and a lot of things too. We thought about postponing our wedding, but both our parents advised that we should just proceed, make some adjustments and start our life together as soon as possible. Looking back I think Typhoon Ondoy helped us free ourselves from material things and just focus on us. It was a fresh start.

Sweetie certainly stood by me and took care of me when I had mitral valve surgery. It wasn't easy since there were a lot of complications that I went through in the last 2 months. He was very firm in his resolve to get me up and running again by really taking care of me. He learned how to comb my hair, bathe me, dress me and found ways to make me comfortable. I realized during my hospital stay that God would really find the best person for you if you ask him to.

And what can I say except, "I'm the luckiest girl in the world to be loved by my Sweetie!"
